Denison’s Arts and Cultural District is home to a diverse art scene. Local, regional, and international artists show in a variety of galleries, studios, and alternative venues throughout the downtown area. From elegantly traditional to funky modern, you are sure to find something of creative interest.
Downtown Banner Program & Public Art:
The Main Street Banner Program is conducted in seven blocks by Downtown Denison, Inc. and the Main Street Program. The Banner Program is business supported and financed. Over 90 banners display original works of art and photographs of Denison’s historic buildings. The Public Works department changes banners seasonally.
The purpose of the Banner Program is to:
- Maximize exposure of banner sponsors
- Add color and excitement to streetscape
- Encourage preservation of our heritage
- Recognize the arts and our artists
Denison’s public art program is just getting started. Public art is viewable at the following locations: Heritage Park, Landmark Bank ( Morton Street), Summit Oaks Ranch, Eisenhower Birthplace, 100 W. Main Street mural, 200 W. main Street mural, Katy Antique Station mural, 131 W. Main Street mural, and . 613 W. Main Street historic signage/ mural.
